#dragon

I've been thinking if I should write something about why I'm specifically a wind dragon, and not some other kind of dragon. Usually, dragons are portrayed as huge, fire-breathing beasts, and I never really saw myself like this (← Considering that, I could also write a post about why I don't identify with most dragons, but that's for another time). I could have also had any other, different element, but I know why my aligned is the wind and air.

This is something I originally wrote for my personal website. Since it covers an important part of my journey in the community, I wanted to have it here as well.

Hello everyone! My name is Dreki, and I'm a 26 winters old dragon currently residing in Germany.
I've been part of the otherkin community for several years now and identify specifically as a wind dragon. My draconity is a big part of who I am, although I'll save the story of how I came to understand and identify as a dragon for a separate post.

Outside of my otherkin identity, I'm a nurse. Caring for others is something that's always been very important to me. I'm generally a rather quiet and shy dragon at first, but I love getting to know others once I get comfortable with them.

Over the past few years, I've become involved in building communities for alterhumans. I'm one of the beings behind Eurokin, a European alterhuman community I created some time ago, and I've helped create and manage several other online spaces where alterhumans can share and talk about their experiences. I've also had the opportunity to meet fellow dragons in person dragon through Gathers hosted by Dragonkin.EU, which has been one of the most rewarding parts of being involved in the community.

I'm not sure why I have chosen to do this, but, despite having some second thoughts about the privacy aspect of this, something tells me it's important to do so.

Who I am is actually of little concern here. Know me personally, and know who I am.

As daylight fades, the sky ignites,
A canvas brushed with amber light,
The dragoness perches, proud and tall,
Upon the craggy heights, she hears the call.

The world below, in shadows cast,
Embraces silence, the day now past,
With every hue, the sun’s farewell,
She feels the magic, a timeless spell.

Her obsidian scales, like stars aglow,
Shimmer softly in the evening’s flow,
Each breath a whisper, each pulse a song,
In this tranquil hour, she knows she belongs.

The moons begin their delicate rise,
Twin orbs of silver in the deepening skies,
They beckon her forth, a celestial guide,
To soar through the twilight, where dreams reside.

With a graceful leap from her rocky throne,
She spreads her vast wings, embracing the unknown,
The currents await, like a lover’s sigh,
As she glides from the summit, toward the evening sky.

With each powerful stroke, she finds her release,
In the arms of the night, she discovers her peace,
The clouds become dancers, swirling and free,
A ballet of shadows, a tribute to she.

Up, up she soars, through the velvet expanse,
Where stars twinkle brightly, inviting her dance,
Among constellations, her heart starts to race,
For here in the heavens, she’s found her true place.

The wind sings her name, a soft serenade,
As she carves through the night, in a wild, joyous cascade,
Her wings, like the whispers of long-forgotten tales,
Carry her onward, where starlight prevails.

Each moment aloft, a timeless embrace,
In the embrace of the night, she finds her grace,
For among the celestial, she leaves her mark,
An echo of her roar, a glimmer in the dark.

So here she dances, in the cool evening air,
A creature of legend, majestic and rare,
With the moons as her witness, the stars as her guide,
The dragoness reigns in the vastness, with pride.

As the world below fades to shadows and dreams,
She twirls with the night, beneath silver beams,
In her heart, she knows, as she soars ever high,
That she is a daughter of the limitless sky.

well, that was something. I was just sitting down when BOOM! Every sence was hightened, i could feel, smell hear and see better than ever before! I felt like i had wings too and tye ammount lf energy .... This has never happened before, im so tired, but that was incredible

So today started out fairly normal. But at 11:30 I felt an odd feeling in my head, i felt like someone was tring to talk to my. By 11:35 The voice was audible, he said he was called Kothoran, and that he was here to guid and help me. We where able to communicate and talk with eachother. We asked eachother questions and had a genral descition, hed said durning this that id have to find things out myself. I asked if i would get to see him and he said once he feels im ready. Apparently his using a dragon statue i was given to talk with me, which made sence as all this started apon receving it. Im not enterly sure what to do but im happy knowing Kothoran is there with me

So my latest "vision". I saw a huge sea-blue scaled dragon upon some sort of ledge, just like me she had white hair but hers ran down her spine and tail, she looked at me, smiling. She them seemed to talk to me but I couldnt hear her. She let out a short burst of flame and the vision faded to black. It all repeated once more before toing for good. I seem to recal and feel a sence of her being my mother

So i just experienced something amazing, ill explain what i saw. A turquoise body that smoothly transitions to a pearl blue with spine feathers that match. A white moheaken like hair, a long snout and from the side a narrow yet long face. Large wings but i couldnt get the details of his wings or tail

This is a challenge for me. I do not consider myself much of a writer. I am dragon. How is that for a great start? How does it feel? Awkward sometimes. It is a feeling of connectedness with the flows. The flows are energy fields that surround everything. For example, the Force in Star Wars. I can feel the form of a great serpent - in fact there are even times I can see it. I find my actions reflect that of having greater size or bulk. When I "put on the dragon" (a term I use for being draconic) I feel very old. Not as in years, but in time. My head will swing around on a long neck as I turn to look at something. It will feel very large and long. My eyes will feel as though the bridge of my nose has grown and I am looking down the length of it to see. My chest expands and the lungs are audible and loud in my ears. There have been a few times I have grumbled and the chest rumbled, vibrating right up to my ears.

If you've read the previous entry, you'll notice something. Aside
from the fact that it reflects having been written at close
to 2am after some insomnia. Yes, if you read over all that,
and think about it for a moment or two, youll realize I
didnt really define dragons at all. Not in the sense of a
category. Traits (which all dragons may or may not have) were
thrown out as a sampling, but it yields no cohesive picture,
no line to separate dragons from everything else. Vexingly,
there are also things which are not dragons which fit the
traits given better than most dragons do.

"So how do you define a dragon?" I was asked.
