Community Guidelines

Community Guidelines

Otherkin.net is a space for those who identify as otherkin, therians, fictionkin, and related communities. Together with the Code of Honor these guidelines reflect our shared values.

Identity and Labels

  • No forced labels. You are not required to identify with any specific term.

  • Others' labels are not yours to challenge. If someone uses a term you're unfamiliar with, ask with curiosity, not skepticism.

  • Respect for diverse belief models — whether spiritual, psychological, metaphorical, or something else entirely — is expected.

Content and Expression

  • Use content warnings for posts involving graphic descriptions of violence, self-harm, death, or intense trauma.

  • Spoilers for recent media should be tagged appropriately.

  • NSFW content is not permitted on this platform. This is not an ideological stance against such content, we simply have no way to perform age verification that does not involve collecting an unacceptable level of private user information.

Privacy and Bounds

  • Do not share others' personal information without consent.

  • Respect that not everyone is out about their identity in all parts of their life.

  • Do not screenshot or repost private communications.

Community Behaviour

  • Disagreement is fine; harassment is not.

  • Blocking and muting are healthy tools, not signs of failure.

  • If you witness a serious issue, use the report system rather than engaging publicly.

Moderation

  • Reports are reviewed by human moderators.

  • Our moderation policies are designed to protect the most vulnerable members of our community first.

  • Good-faith mistakes are handled with education before escalation. Patterns of harm are addressed more firmly.
