I would love to read this! Back when I was a dragon, I was a storm dragon. I think that would likely fall under wind (and perhaps a touch of water, maybe?). I was little and lithe and it was all very fun. I'd be excited to hear about the experience from someone with a similar element!
I write on Dreamwidth a lot! I do it whenever I have a quiet moment, usually at the beginning of my day. I will go over any big events since I last updated, or at least the biggest, most important thing I can think of. Sometimes it's HUGE, other times I just watched a particularly good episode of a show, or perhaps the weather was nice. Really, any memory or event that I would not like to be forever gone in the depths of my memory.
I also put down any ideas I have and a quick explanation of my thinking. Sometimes I end up repeating ideas in each entry, but it helps me keep an eye on what I want to do and why.
Sometimes nonhumanity will come up, sometimes not. I just write about what is important to me in the moment. I also do not force myself to do it every day. If I have a quiet moment in the morning, I take the opportunity. I recommend finding a certain situation in which you would like to write, and just letting yourself write whenever you're there. It doesn't have to be every day. You don't have to be incredibly consistent with it. And you'll find your own way of doing it in time.
Holy cow.... me mention! I'm so so glad my website helped you, it means a lot!
I've really been enjoying it over here. I like smaller, quiet spaces the most. I think the forums and otherkin.net are very easily some of my favorite spots online right now.
Super glad to have you and excited to see more of you around! <3
I could only engage with media and with myself if I was nonhuman. There are very few drawings as me [as a human], only animals that are meant to represent me. Explorations of my life if I was something other.
For reasons due to trauma, I never drew a family portrait or depictions of a home. I would break down due to the stress of it. I'm not surprised this eventually turned into me adopting an alien identity!
A lot of this was signs of deep dissociation from me, not necessarily nonhumanity. But it was that stress and dissociation that's led me to this identity, so I'm counting it for this question!
My awakening was.... soft and not noticeable. Looking back I can see how it developed, but one day I just noticed it was there. I was an amphibian man, a fishfolk. Just a steady drum in my chest that grew loud at such a slow pace, it was like boiling a frog in water. I was fine then.... Oops... I'm cooked!
I have been multiple things in my life, and they are always a slow slow gradient between them. I was a werewolf, a fae, a dragon..... all of them evolving into each other in a way I wasn't even aware of. I'm changing now, still. I have no idea how so or where I'm going. I'll just look back one day and see the path...!
I wish I had a more clear answer then this, but that's just how it happened to me!
I think about art deco a lot, for xenos. I think it's something about H.R. Giger's art that draws upon it in my mind. The sturdy arches, the angular bodies in portrayals of humans. So when I think art deco, I think xenomorph. A bit odd, but it's something I keep in mind when trying to be more xeno w it :]
It can be hard to finally indulge in the community. It took me years before I was comfortable! Shame is a powerful weapon, I'm glad you're able to overcome it some! I'm curious about your experiences as a (questioning) rodent, if you're ever up to share them!
HA! The same thing happens to me with my own partner. I feel so so vivid when they are with me. I think the sheer level of relaxation I achieve is to blame. I become such a happy beast with her. My phantom sensations go crazy.
I love love love hearing about other xenomorph's experiences. The connection to the body, that wild feeling about their anatomy is.... really something else. I find a lot of power (physically and emotionally) in xenomorphs, it's really awesome to hear that you feel similarly!
Massive massive fan of this post, thank you for sharing!
Personally, I love a weighted blanket. I enjoy the feeling of pressure on my body, of being underwater. I think weighted blankets help me achieve that! I've also taken to putting some fans under them, that way I don't get overheated and it sort of feels like moving water, ha!
I also have been trying more recently to monitor what I eat. I have stomach issues, and certain foods irritate it. I've been sticking to raw or gently cooked fish and raw veggies. It helps my body, but MAN it also makes me feel like an animal. It's a good diet.
Being treated like an outcast, I think. I felt like they were scared to interact with me, like I was some misshapen version of a human. Paired with my intense phantom sensations, seeing myself as a gillman was... very easy.
I also am a gillman because of my personal fiction, which has influences a LOT of my experiences.
Hmm. When I get anxious, I usually do something that requires a lot of focus, like working on my website or playing a complicated game. It helps me get my mind off of whatever is bothering me.
