Planning a Xenomorph Care Guide
I saw a few posts online depicting detailed care guides for their species / theriotypes, and it inspired me to start planning my own! I wanted this care guide to be about my Xenomorph fictype (?) since my canine theriotype has been quite dormant for the summer. This will grow into either a couple of slides on Instagram, or just a proper blog post.
I get overwhelmed easily with projects... this quickly turned into a cacophony of words in my notes app. Here's the list:
1) Mobility drills, since being a Xenomorph means being able to utilize the body to its fullest extend. Xenomorph are mobile, flexible creatures and it brings me a lot of euphoria when I am also able to be quite flexible in the body I inhabit.
2) Sensory deprivation. I can mask well inside of the chaos of a city, but it takes all of my energy. I thrive in dark, cold and quiet locations. Objects like heavy duty headphones, sensory toys, chew rings, and soft plushies help calm myself down. Blackout curtains have been a lifesaver, too. Then you can get to environment based sensory experiences such as cold plunges and deprivation tanks (my dream). Basically all an effort to scuttle up into a vent to protect my sanity.
3) Scents. I... am stuck on this one. What would a Xenomorph smell, if it could? I don't have a preference for scents. although I do love lavender and have a few various candles. I'm very basic when it comes to favorite smells, wish I could take sometime to find a special fragrance or perfume.
4) Food / Drinks. Technically, Xenomorphs can digest pretty much anything (and everyone), but since this is MY careguide, we're boiling it down to easily digestable, liquid-based meals (except chicken noodle soup - the most BORING meal in the universe). Miso soup, homemade ramen, smoothies, rice and beef combos... nothing complex. Cheap and easy to make. I'm a very lazy eater, but I also think eating is a chore. I need to make it somewhat enjoyable...
5) Activities. Like, what would a Xenomorph want to do in the human world besides kill and try to escape? What activities make me feel like an alien? Uh... scratches head. People watching, rock climbing, urban exploration (to feel more at home), swimming (I do love water), visiting museums and planetariums. On that note, being inside of a city gives me an odd feeling of 'home'. More like all of the concrete and metal, but the noise from cars and such throws me out of the element. Ew.
6) Media. Alien is a massive franchise, I don’t even know where to start when recommending media... Logically it would be to watch the movies, and hop over to play some of the video games. My favorite is Alien vs. Predator (2010) where you’re able to play in the perspective of a Xenomorph OR a Yautja, it’s really fucking cool and euphoric. I need to watch the TV show still. If I’m able to, I’ll give it a watch this weekend. Course I can’t forget to mention H.R. Giger’s artwork and films. A game called Scorn is based on Giger’s art, I’d recommend that as well. Holy shit. So. Much. Media.
7) Music. Movie soundtrack is appropriate here but I want to include other options. Well, again, this would be more aligned with my own tastes in music. Genres like industrial techno, experimental music like drone and noise tracks. EDM tracks. Then you can include metal genres like goregrind, death and doom metal. Taking the traits of the Xenomorph – fast, aggressive, sleek – and transferring them into sound. On Spotify there are a few Xenomorph themed playlists consisting of cyberpunk, darksynth and metal tracks. I found a Xenomorph radio on there, too.
8) Accessories. Another part I got stumped on since I don’t wear jewelry (sensory issues). I’m thinking the obvious Xenomorph-themed earrings, bracelets, rings. Then there’s the dream accessory of those fancy digitigrade stilts, and if it exists, a proper Xenomorph tail. Course you also have t-shirts, backpacks, keychains (again, widely available. Thanks franchise).
Hm. I'll continue to ponder.

I think about art deco a lot, for xenos. I think it's something about H.R. Giger's art that draws upon it in my mind. The sturdy arches, the angular bodies in portrayals of humans. So when I think art deco, I think xenomorph. A bit odd, but it's something I keep in mind when trying to be more xeno w it :]
