How do you evaluate claims made by others about their experiences?

Well, in most cases I do research based on the majority of the community. For example, in the therian community there's a misunderstanding that we are furries or that we choose our identity. There was a time that I thought both of those were true until I learned more about them. (I believed these lies bc I wasn't sure who or what they were and didn't know I was one before)
