How do you open a private message and how do you change your avatar?

Messaging:

Click the intended recipient’s name, which redirects to a new page.

Several buttons, including “public message” and “private message”

Avatar:

I really haven’t tried, but I need to look for it as well.

I would assume somewhere on your profile page.

Yep, profile picture and cover photo can be easily changed if you edit your profile.
