Nowadays, more than ever, it is easier to induce Awakening in otherkin. The mere presence and increasing openness of the otherkin community means the word gets out to a lot of people, and some of those people are bound to begin questioning their identities.

While merely being openly 'kin will often cause other 'kin to Awaken, it is extremely difficult to actually force this process. However, while vampires have to take in energy, otherkin don't really have to do much except be themselves. As such, they can - and often do - simply ignore the idea entirely.

Telling someone who is not ready that they are otherkin will be met with apathy in the best cases and derision or anger in the worst cases. Even those who do believe you will miss out on the opportunity for self-discovery. If you believe someone is 'kin and wish for them to Awaken, the best you can do is simply be openly otherkin around them and exercise patience. With luck, they will eventually Awaken all on their own.
