Otherkin.net is entirely dependent on the submissions of members of the community for it's content. Submissions are always welcome, though we cannot promise to use everything we get. The following sections covers some of the things we are looking for. If something is not listed that doesn't mean we are not interested.

Otherkin Encyclopedia Project

A number of people have noted the lack of a description of types of otherkin on the site, and a lack of a comprehensive description of the many kinds of kin online. There are many individual descriptions, or small collections, but no comprehensive resource. Otherkin.net being the information borg that it is, we have a project in the works to address this.

An early version of the project was breifly online a while back. It gathered some information, which will make it online eventually. The submission forms are back already though if you would like to contribute. (They include a form for making suggestions for changes to the forms and other comments).

Web Wide Otherkin

As you have hopefully noticed, otherkin.net has a gradually growing links section. However it is currently dependent on people knowing about otherkin.net and thinking to add their site. We are looking for people to help in actively growing the links section by searching the web for sites for, by, about or relevent to otherkin. Someone to coordinate the results and contact the website owners to ask if they would like to be added is also needed.

Additionally, people to go through the links section, rate and review each site are wanted. This can be done on an individual basis - just pick a link, look at the site then come back and rate and/or review it.

Site Improvements

If you see something on the site you think could be improved, or something you don't see and think would be useful, let us know. Feedback really is very helpful.

Harmony & Discord

The Harmony & Discord section is always open for new submissions. If you have something to say that you think would be useful or interesting for otherkin, or otherkin curious people, this is the place to say it. An article does not have to be large, if you can say what you want to in a couple of paragraphs that's fine, equally we have the space for small novels (but they would have to be good novels). In particular at this time we are looking for:

Shielding 101

The basics of mental self defense come up frequently on the newbies lists. Some of it is general, some of it otherkin specific. Having the basics written up as an easy reference would be useful. There are old posts saved and available for anyone willing to tackle this one.

Why are there so many elves, and not X?

where X is whatever the questioner is. This comes up every so often, anyone got an answer?

Is being otherkin a physical or spiritual thing

I know I'll get a bunch of replies from elves that say "Yes" but I'd like some slighly longer answers from different perspectives.

Topic Suggestions

Is there a topic you'd like to see an article on, but don't think you can write it yourself? Let us know and we'll add it to the list.
Places to start: What sort of things did you find helpful when you were awakening? What questions do you wish you could have asked someone? For the folks who are still in the curious or starting to awake stage, what would help? What "stupid question" are you worried about asking? (There are no "stupid questions" except the ones you don't ask).

  This one is partly addressed by lists scattered all over the web. The Encyclopedia Project is an attempt to gather all that information together. (Much help is needed with it).

  In part the directory helps here, but it only includes a small percentage of the online community, and does nothing for finding people offline.

Submissions Guidelines

There are not very many requirements for submissions. We have people willing to copy edit, so help with grammer, layout, structure, etc is available should you wish. Eventually we'll have an article submission form up. In the meantime, when submitting anything, please include the following:

• Your name, and whether you would like your name included. This can be a usename it does not have to be your real name.
• Your email address. This will not be displayed on the site
• The title of the piece you are submitting
• A one line description of the piece. This is not essential, but is strongly requested
• Plain text. Please do not submit html unless you have a very strong reason for doing so. If you wish to include links to other webpages (useful for many articles), either use html for the link, or put the link in []s.
