Thor's Hammer
Origin: Norse Mythology
Other Names: Mjolnir, Miolnir

Also called Mjolnir, the hammer was given to the Viking God Thor by the dwarves Brock and Sindri, sons of the the lunar life cycle, Ivaldi. When thrown, it always returns to Thor’s hand like a boomerang.
In Norse mythology it is a tool of creation and a weapon of destruction at the same time, because it is a symbol of marriage and the magic mill that creates all things (gold, salt, happiness, peace) but it also can be used to grind of all substances to be used in future worlds to come. In some Asatru marriages today, the wedding cake is the shape of Mjolnir.
Unfortunately, Mjolnir (with many of the other prominent Norse symbols) has been adopted for use by white supremist and neo-Nazi groups who twist the original symbology to their racist agenda. It is often used by these groups with, or in place of, the swastika, with little regard for the original meaning, other than its connection to the Thunder God, Thor.
