Tetragrammaton
Origin: Greek tetragrammatos: "having four letters" Other Names: ? by: magpie The Tetragrammaton is the Hebrew four letter word for God. It is most often transliterated as YHWH, YHVH or IAUE, and most often pronounced as "Yahweh", although some texts say that the true name of God should never be spoken for fear of blasphemy. Other texts indicate that God's name should be exalted. I personally don't know if we could ever truly know the True Name of God, so i refuse to debate the matter; God's name is her business. The four letters that comprise the Tetragrammaton are Yod, He, Wed and He (remember that Hebrew is written from right to left). The word "tetragrammaton" literally translates from the Greek tetragrammatos, "having four letters".
