Bogies are harmless creatures who tend to prefer darkness. They are often thought of as clumsy beings, and are fond of listening in on other people's conversations. Some beliefs state that bogies are known to cause nightmares or cause the hair on one's neck to stand on end. In this sense, it is most likely the origin of the infamous "Boogie Man."
