Kelpie
The Kelpie is a Scottish water-horse sort of creature. Some legends describe the Kelpie as half-horse, half-sea creature, somewhat like a seahorse. In Gaelic, they are referred to as "Each Uisge" (Water Horse). They are often described as evil or impish creatures which entice humans onto their backs (while in full horse form) and leading them into the water to drown. Apparently humans of old weren't well-versed in the art of swimming, because this is a rather common theme. There is, however, a slight distinction between the Each Uisce and the Kelpie: the Each Uisce is said to have sticky skin, so that the rider cannot help being led into a watery grave; with the Kelpie on the other hand, people have been able to get away and survive.
