You'll have to be patient with me because these are just my experiences and yours may or may not be the same. Especially for us, the Night Elves. You see the Dai'ari were several different Elenari races blended into one. So if anything we were a subculture and not a different Elven race but we eventually had our own system. Unfortunately every tribe was slightly different. So this is the song of my tribe.
I also feel it necessary to mention the fact that I am not a great expert on what happened inside the vales (villages). Reason being the fact I was a scout and spent about 99% of my time outside the vales in the surrounding forests.
Physical traits are very varied because of all the different races that blended into ours. So were our clothing and our homes. In our tribe, long, silver hair, light-colored eyes, slender, and quite tall with angular faces. Our eyes tended to be slightly larger than the other tribes (better to see in the dark!). However scouts such as myself often died their hair to match the woods (blotchy browns and muted greens) and wore clothes to match. Many of the people in the vales wore simple, practical but beautiful clothing. Our shoes were very similar to the moccasins of Native Americans, but made out of a very thin and soft material. All clothing tended to be home made and made to fit the person's personality.
Our communities were very family oriented and males and females were on an equal footing for all things. Children were rare but treasured. In my own case I had a little girl but her father raised her more than I. Her father was one of the main magick-teachers in our community and his home was safer than mine. The homes were either made underground (gotta love the dark!) or in the case of myself in the trees. In my own case, it was simply a huge tree that I carved a few shelves in and slept on several branches that had grown together.
Which brings me to Magick and its role in the Dai'ari lives. We learned many different traditions of magick, due to how many different races of elves fed ours. Usually our religion was a personal thing but we only worshiped the Spirit, Nature, and the balance. My favorite tradition was one where we worshiped the balance between all things (ie a God and a Goddess).
Mind gifts were really strong in the Dai'ari race. For me, I'm a very strong Empath and Telepath even in this life. For whatever reason it must have carried over from my life with the Dai'ari. If I remember correctly we had some of the strongest mind gifts of the Elenari. Mostly it was just with family and friends that we could have direct communication (Ie sentences) but in general we could usually use empathy on anyone and minor telepathic messages depending on how well the other person could receive.
Now this is by no part a complete describtion, nor is it the only tribe of Dai'ari out there. Ours was quite a reclusive tribe and rarely let outsiders in. Mostly because of some purpose we had to fulfull. I can not tell you of that purpose cause I seriously don’t remember, however it had to do with the balance of nature.
This is all of my general knowledge for now, but my memories surface every day.
