You did forget to mention a few things, even though I almost totally agree with your statement. The first thing is that without death, life cannot go on. Life and Death are bound irrevocably to one another. There are many legends that try to explain why this is, but most, no all, do not come up to par. No one knows why they are bound to one another, but I guess that there is a strong energy field between the two that is keeping them bound to each other forever. I feel this because I have seen many people try to cheat death and fail. This energy is stronger than any mortal or other wise, I am certain, can ever comprehend completely or control. Death, however can be slowed by magick, medicine, and good personal hygiene and health. You also forgot to mention that there are other creatures who are of the Shadow. That is, between Light and Dark. They feed off of the energies of Light Creatures, but also give energy for Dark Creatures to feed off of. However, some of the stuff you said about people not being good or evil is not entirely true. Such as saying that only the person's actions should be percieved as good or bad. You left out the fact that a person's actions, if they do them repeatedly, says whether or not that person has a good or evil personality or spirit. The repeated good or evil actions of that person should say whether or not that person has a bad or good personality or otherwise. I know this from experience. I do agree that most Otherkin, Vampyres in particular, are treated with fear, hatred and violence. However, you forgot to mention that most humans do not know of our presence and would prefer not to know about our presence (I am talking about all Otherkin here, not just vampyres). Well, enough neutral and un-called for bitching and complaining from me. Thanks for listening to my incessant complaining.

hey, i just wanted to say thanks for the reasurance.
i have often been afraid of being myself, because of being dark, and what others will say if they find out.
it's nice to know that there are others like me out there.
thanks

Very well written. I am one of the dark as well, and I think your points are quite valid. Not much of a writer myself, so i'll just say well done and I agree on the most part.

well written. i was encouraged by what you said, having (i think) refused to accept what i saw in myself, becasue of the bias against dark beings. i feel as though i can help, and create, but many seer friends have given me an epithet like "destroyer of illusion" of something simlarly dramatic. both of them fit, and i was frightened og my potential to destroy. i thank you whole-heartedly.

Well, seems like I'm the only Light one who right a comment.
What you wrote is well writen and all, but I can't complitly agree. Light and Dark are not about eating and feeding. It is about how your energies set, but mentaly, it's deeper. You can't say "a, b, c means your dark, d, e, f means your light." You can only look at one and say wheather he's light or dark. And even that not so clear. Most, if not all of us are not complitly light or dark. Most of us are in the middle. Some closer to light, some closer to dark, but all contains energies of both terms.
Another thing is, you wrote it all in a state of "yeah, we're dark we suffer so much becouse of it". Please let me remind you, that when you feel bad when you see what your dark nature couse, it's becouse *other* people are suffering.I know you'll thing I'm only saing that cause I'm light. I know both life and death should be done, but you're the ones who hurt, not the ones who get hurt.
We all have a lot to argue about befor we understand the whole Light and Dark thing. For now, this is what I offer to the discussion.

Well, reading both your... essay, i guess, and the comments, i've come to the conclusion that many are blind. You are correct in most of what you've said, and so is the one who is "light" but i must say, that neither the light or the dark are so hard off. I myself cannot say that I am of either. I do "evil" things, but I am generally "good".... so what does that make me?
There are no real black and white, or light and dark people. There are shades of grey. There is no one who is trully dark, because many try to rationalize what they are doing. No one is completely light, because they may think bad things. Overall, this was a good 'essay'(for lack of a better word) and i congratulate you on your understanding.

I agree with you; I have even met Masters of one of the arcane arts that believe in writing people off as "good" or "evil".
I have a split nature, myself. I have the ability to go whichever way I want, depending on the situation. I am primarily a healer, but I can destroy just as quickly, and it takes even less effort. I don't believe in the religious system of good and evil. Actually, strike that, I don't believe in religion period. No offense, but I find organized religion ridiculous because they all believe essentially the same thing. So I choose to believe in dark and light in the way you describe it. I rank dark and light as three grades: Light, Shadow, and Void. I work with Light and Shadow every day, but I oppose the Void. I do not use my gifts for harm, and that is what Void does, primarily. I have been attacked by the minions of the Void, and I defeated them for the time being. I will continue to resist, for I will never become a vessel for harm unless that is the only path that makes sense. I destroy only when I must. I'm sorry if I have offended anyone with this, but this is my belief. All are entitled to their opinions, but that commodity is becoming less frequent of late.

Well...

I think there is light and dark. And grey. And just plain malicious.
I don't think of dark as evil. Shade is dark, and don't we run for shade when it gets too hot? The sun is light, but doesn't it burn and sometimes blind? I like the dark. I like the light, but I hate those who are malicious. Grey - boring, boring, boring and agsin, boring. Grey is dull.
Saying that, I'm not too interesting myself. I'm probably grey.
Don't stereotype. It's not polite.
